Job Description for EDS Lead Engineer - Circuits & Architecture

As a Lead Engineer, you will play a critical role in partnering with our customers to deliver on product engineering initiatives. Working as part of the customer engineering team, you will focus on managing all engineering aspects of our projects to ensure delivery targets are met. In your role you'll be aiming for the optimum design, technically and commercially.

Your Role

• Perform EDS systems and architecture studies and identify optimization opportunities and margin improvements.
• Elaborate and develop E/E Architect. inspired by the APTIV innovation Road Map
• Promote efficient EDS design to maximize margin.
• Support RFQ process and identify Aptiv’s  technology enhancements.
• Analyze and define optimization key elements in the vehicle electrical design
• Perform analysis on the vehicle power distribution system, grounding, harness partitioning, network topology and subsystems design.
• Challenge customer specification and define opportunities.
• Plan & manage projects according to customer timing plan; hit milestones and gateway reviews while collaborating with internal project controls.
• Direct responsibility for the Customer Engineering circuit design release to deliver to the customer promise. 
• Review design and take action to optimize and improve harness manufacturing processes.
• Lead and control the circuit development, ensuring all changes are approved and integrated within the control systems.
• Liaise with customer, internal teams and manufacturing to ensure documents are released to enable project delivery.
• Engage with key stakeholders to report project status and resolve issues.
• Lead and coach engineers dedicated to the project to ensure customer, technical and quality specifications are met.
• Develop strong working relationships with the customer both at UK and across Europe, proactively managing the relationship to partner with our customers and identify continuous improvements.

Your Background

• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering/Technical or a related field.
• 5+ years experience delivering electronic distribution system engineering projects, with exposure to managing a team of engineers.
• Experience and passion for applying engineering principles, concepts, theory, and practice to design products.
• Strong Circuits knowledge, with experience of successfully delivering EDS focused activities.
• Strong communicator and project leader, with a collaborative mindset.
• Data and analytical problem solving ability, who is action oriented and adaptive to change.
